AS Reflection Task- Creativity

Both Abbie and I enjoy watching horror films so we wanted the genre of our film to be horror. As we have watched many horror films it wasn't hard to come up with ideas as we had seen all the different conventions and stereotypes of that specific genre of film. Abbie and I both shared our ideas and collectively came up with what we thought was the best idea. We used both of our ideas which then led to us coming to our final idea. We changed our idea many times. This was because we kept coming up with other ideas which we thought were better. Also, when it came to filming we changed things last minute because we thought it would look better. So, we didn't have a set idea which we kept to throughout the whole filming process. We believed this was a good thing because it meant that we were constantly trying to improve our film. However, the downside was that changing one part of the film meant that we had to change other bits throughout the whole film which meant it took us a lot longer to film then we had first planned.
Adobe premiere elements 10 helped us to make our film imaginative because we were able to use different effects and transitions. The effects we used added an imaginative side to our film because it showed something different other than the basic film. It would entice our audience because it offered something other than just a film. The specific effects we used such as fade in and out were very effective and imaginative. We used this effect at the end and the point in it was to try and make it seem like the main character was panicking, which is why we put in a heartbeat sound in the background. This shows that Adobe Premiere Elements 10 helped us to achieve something imaginative because we were able to include some scenes with various different effects.
We used many different stylistic techniques that appealed to the audience. For example, we used a white font against a black background. This would make it stand out for the audience and therefore they would clearly be able to notice and see the different texts in white. We also changed the sound of the background music according to which scene it was. So, for example, the scenes in which nothing major was happening the music was fairly quiet and it was not jumpy. However, the scenes where something frightening was about to happen we increased the volume of the music which would put the audience more on edge therefore creating more of a scary atmosphere.
The intended outcome of the production was to create a successful horror film which was enjoyable and thrilling for our audience. We believe this was achieved due to all the different codes and conventions we included. We used different camera shots that linked in with the horror genre. For example we used high and low angle shots to establish who was the victim and who was the villain. This would make it more exciting for the audience because they would know who is the villain and who is the victim.

AS Reflection Task- Digital Technology

Digital Technology

The software that was used to create our final product was Adobe Premiere Elements 10. This proved extremely helpful in creating our final product because it enabled us to edit and put together our film in the best way possible. Adobe Premiere Elements 10 allowed us to add titles to our film, which made our product look more professional. It also allowed us to add different effects. This meant that our film may have been more appealing to a wider audience because there was more than just a basic film, there was special effects to make the film more interesting.
The equipment used in our film was a camera. This was the main piece of equipment as it was what we used to film our product. It was also used in our film diaries and our group feedback as we used the camera to film those also. This shows that the camera was what allowed us to make our film. We also used various props throughout our film. We used a scarf and a mobile phone. The scarf was the main prop as the main focus is around the scarf and how it ended up hanging from a tree. The mobile phone was not the main prop however it was used as a distraction which could have made the audience feel on edge because the character was distracted from what was going on around her so would not see anything.
The technical pros of the software, Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and blogger, were that they enabled us to help create our final product. Adobe helped us to edit and put together our product which made our film look much better as it looked more professional. Blogger helped us to monitor our research and planning which meant we clearly knew what we were doing. This therefore helped us because we were able to see exactly what we had done and exactly what we needed to do. However the cons Adobe Premiere Elements 10 was that for our first time editing it was quite a complicated editing software as it had so many different tools you could use to edit. This meant that it took us quite a while to get used to using all the different tools.  The techinal pros of the hardware, the camera, was that it was what enabled us to film our product. It allowed us to use many different shot types throughout our film which is what enabled the audience to understand what genre our film was.
