Comedy Trailer- Tammy
The trailer starts with non- diegetic music before showing a large woman getting out of a car with a bag on her head and one over her hand. The scene then cuts to a two-shot of a news reporter and a fast- food restaurant worker describing a robber which is described to look like the woman we have just seen getting out of the car. The scene then cuts to a close up shot of the woman's feet. She is wearing crocs which could show the audience that even though she is supposed to be a robber she isn't taking it seriously. As this particular scene is going on the music is fairly loud and upbeat which could suggest rather than the robbery being dangerous it is actually going to be quite funny. We then see a mid shot of the woman dancing in slow motion which really suggests to the audience that she either thinks she is going to get away with the robbery or just that she doesn't really know what she is doing. The music then suddenly cuts off when the scene changes and the woman is now standing in the restaurant with the bag fully over her head and shouts 'Freeze, nobody move'. Just as she says this the scene changes again and we see the woman now run up towards the counter as if to jump over it. However, instead of jumping over it she runs straight into the side of it. This will definitely show the audience that this is a comedy because when a robbery is taking place it is usually planned however this robbery seems to be unplanned and most likely unsuccessful. After this scene ends the non-diegetic music resumes as the restaurant worker describes the robber as 'super bossy'. The next scene then shows the robber saying 'give me some pies'. This then shows the audience that all she is after is food rather than money. However, as the two workers are doing what she says it could perhaps show that they are both quite stupid. Also, the fact that the 'gun' in the paper bag in her hand is clearly not a gun, there is nothing for them to be scared about as its clear she is not a threat to them. The robber then points the 'gun' at the male worker and her hand in a gun shape at the female worker. The music then stops suddenly as the worker replies 'That's your finger'. The point in this pause in the music is to perhaps make the audience solely focus on the dialogue rather than the music. It also emphasises how stupid and funny the scene is. As the trailer plays on bits of the scene in the restaurant is played during which the robber shouts at the workers 'Do you want pies?'. The female worker replies sheepishly with 'yes please'. This sums up the robbery really as being completely stupid as she is now offering around pies. A few seconds later there is another pause in the music which again is allowing the audience to fully understand that the film is funny. As the trailer goes on the non-diegetic upbeat music continues. This type of music is effect as it shows that the film isn't serious. During the last bit of the trailer we see a series of 2-3 seconds clips of scenes during the film which give the audience a sneak peak of all the things that will happen during the film. This may influence them to go and watch the film because they have a fair idea of what is going to happen. One scene we see is of the robber coming back to the restaurant through the drive through window wearing the same paper bag on her head. She is trying to return money she had obviously stole from them. The girl behind the window then shouts out 'Oh my God there's two of them'. However the tone of voice she uses shows the audience that's she's not frightened but perhaps however annoyed at the fact she thinks they are here to steal more pies. A long shot of the kitchen shows three members of staff standing behind counters and one of them shouts 'We're going to need more pies'. This basically sums up the robbery and the robber- nothing to be scared of but frustrating because she will eat all the pies.
